Finally - new pics of house

Coming together day-by-day. Tomorrow - weather permitting, we get the front part of the drive. We now have garage doors, porte cochere, master bath tub (got it on sale!!!) AND we survived the month even with the interest payment from #@!!.

As for the stomach bug, we are all back to varying degrees. Laura 110%, Sean 90%, Jo & Reagan 75%.

Mom's Turn

Mom woke up with the dreaded stomach bug this morning. After they dropped me off, Mom and dad went to the Women's Center to make sure that Reagan wasn't taking a page from my book about trying to get here at week 28. So far, looks like she's sticking to the 40 week program. Dr. "C" saw mom and said everything was fine with Reagan and to not worry, just go home and take some Phenergan and ride it out. (Now that everyone has had their turn, I sure hope we don't start over - yuck!)

Dad and I went by the house on our way home - We have the beginnings of a driveway and now have garage doors in place. Dad's camera was not in the truck (still)

Regionals Day for Fancy Nancy

8:00a - On our way to Oxford! Check back for updates today.
9:15a - All set up and Fancy! Good grief there are a lot of people here. A whole gym full. There are 14 in the K division and over 300 total here today.
1:20p - WHAT A LONG DAY! End of the road for Fancy. Oh well, pretty good for the first year doing this. I got a nice certificate and an Ole Miss pencil. We are headed to Backyard Burgers for SOMETHING TO EAT!

Thanks Ms Charlotte for getting me the Fancy Nancy book I've had a LOT of fun telling people about it. Also, thanks to Ms Beth for coming out to see me today in Oxford.

I'll post pictures later.

UPDATE: AS PROMISED, HERE ARE THE PICS OF ME AND THE COMPETITION:

Forgot Camera

Well - I kept mom up most of Thursday night (something I ate didn't agree with me) so needless to say, we stayed home Friday.

Dad went to work and to check on the house. He tells us that they poured the porte-cochere and the back porch and the footings for the front porch. The siding is mostly up in the garage and the guys were working on trimming out the garage doors. They are supposed to install the garage doors on Tuesday.

Dad and dede are going to Birmingham to pick up our exterior doors. "Uncle" Chris was nice enough to go check on them for us and sent pictures so dad would know how to plan on hauling them. Mr. JC is loaning dad a trailer to go get them. I'll try to get dad to make some pictures early this week and post them since he forgot the camera Friday.

A check for HOW much???

I'm going to let dad post this week - he's been acting strange lately. Think it will do him some good. ;-)Lou

Ok - so there wasn't a post last weekend - for good reason - I was in shock!
Remember, this is our first (and LAST) house to build. We had to renew the construction loan week before last and, as the banker said when he called last Friday, "I let you get out of here the other day without getting a interest check, just drop us one by Monday for $X,XXX" It's still hard to type the number, but let's just say it was 6 months worth of our current house payment.

Banks are in business to lend money to people who don't have enough and charge them interest for that privilege - I, we, understand that. We sure do feel privileged. Still not 100% convinced that they have told us we can afford more house than we actually can, but this month will be a GREAT test.

The shock part really set in when looking at the cash flows and how selling the house in Pontotoc is a must for everything to go well. After hiding under a rock for 2 days - we pulled out the budget and went to work and are currently car pooling, taking lunches, and eating at home. Like sleep - eating IS a habit. And, as a welcomed side effect - BP is lower this week, then again that may just be a side effect of the shock.

We're half way through the construction process and there are still a lot of places that we have to watch the spending - doing well so far. Today was spent doing - fix-ups on the house in Pontotoc that have been needed for some time. We should have access to the garage in Tupelo by the end of next week to start moving stuff over so we can begin to show the house or list it with a Realtor.

The storms Tuesday night made me wish we had the Snow Fort finished! The worst of the storm went to the north and west of us. Most of the night was spent in front of the TV and laptop waiting to see if we needed to go underground - won't have to do that in the Snow Fort. Luckily - no one we know suffered any loss in the storm that, to date caused several million dollars damage and a 59-person death toll.

As my fortune cookie said Thursday (a friend paid for lunch out) "Your dream will come true" - lucky numbers included 33 and the word was "Drink". If I drank - I might read more into that than I have. hehehe

See, feeling better already - sense of humor returning.

We'll make it. Anyway, enjoy the pics from this week. Windows were installed on Friday and Saturday. Earlier in the week, plumbing and electrical were installed. We go tomorrow to see if we can live within the allowance for the kitchen & bath, fixtures, cabinets, appliances and lighting.
