Pre-stain concrete

Here are pictures that dad took today of the concrete floors before they started staining them. Hopefully, we'll have after shots the first part of next week.

Wrapping up - or at least getting started wrapping up

Mom and dad went to Dr. C today for regular weekly-checkup and Reagan is still in there! Everything is progressing as expected. They'll go back every week from now on.

We spent Saturday picking out paint colors for the new house. (mom's nesting) (My room is purple! and Reagan's is green)

We threw my Cousin Jessica a wedding shower at Grandmaw and Grandaddy's Sunday - I had a lot of fun.

Yesterday, we went to look at a new house our painter had painted (I like ours better) but the painter did do a great job. We're ready for him to paint ours. Just have to get the sheetrockers and then the floor guys out of the way.

Tomorrow I'm staying home from school with mom and dad to pack some stuff up. Mr. JC is letting dad borrow his trailer. (Hope he remembers what happened to the last trailer dad borrowed - we still have seen hide nor hair of it.)

Oh, Dad asked me to get everyone that wants email updates or text messages from us when Reagan decides to make her appearance to send an email to sthompson33@gmail.com with the subject "baby updates" if you want text messages, you need to include the cellphone number in the email. (Or you can keep a regular check on the blog the day we go and catch the updates there)

Here is what dad and mom sent when I finally decided to make my grand appearance:

6/6/2002
8:38AM
Hope this works... We are at the hospital and I'm sending this from my phone. They have started her drip. Mom & baby are fine.

12:51PM
Baby update-Jo got her epidural around lunch. She's to 5cm. BP dropped a little, but she & baby are still fine.

3:19PM
We're almost there 9cm. Mom & baby are ready to get on with the show! Maybe next update will be the last.

6:30PM
She's here! 5:05p 5.15lbs 17 inches. Everybody is fine, even me. Should go home Saturday.

9:46PM
Thanks for to all of you for thinking of us. I slighted her a half-inch, she is a proud 17.5 inches long. Attached is the first of many many pictures. Mom and Laura as still doing fine. Dr. says we should come home Saturday morning still.

Thanks again,

The Thompson

I misunderstood the nurse about Laura's weight, she is 5 pounds 15 ounces. It had been a long day. The first of many, I'm sure.

Dad is such a pack-rat he still has all the emails from back then!

Here's a slide show of my first few (Ha!35) pictures. Enjoy

Weekly Visits Begin

Mom, dad and Reagan started weekly visits this week with Dr. C. Well, actually, this was a regular visit to Missy - Dr. C. starts next week.

Apparently, Reagan has got her GPS working and is headed for the exit - head down and dropped were the reports this week. Missy said she'd be happy if Reagan would hold off a couple of weeks, but wouldn't stop her if she decided to have an April birthday.

I started making a set of flash cards this week for Reagan at dad's work. You know, just in case she gets here early I'll be ready. Mostly color words and other words I know that I think she'll need to know.

All of the belly-dancing that she's been doing has trimmed two pounds off of mom! (Missy said this wasn't unusual in that last month to shed a few pounds) Reagan continues to get the hiccups about 20 minutes after mom eats, they say this is a sign of a health baby practicing breathing or drinking... sure... That's all I need- a hyper-active over achieving little sister!

Went by the house this afternoon to check on the progress. Little John was trenching in the power feed from the garage to the house. They are supposed to have all of that finished tomorrow and pour the next-to-last part of the concrete. This will complete the drive from the road to the garage. That means the big stuff can start being moved into the garage next weekend. Sheet rockers say they will be finished this week. They are going to have to hit it hard, but maybe by Saturday. HVAC installs begin tomorrow. Maybe we'll get a chance to shoot some pictures of more concrete Friday! fun fun fun - I see a lot of scraped knees in my future. :-(

Dad is still politicking for that new job. Friday is the deadline for applications and then the game is on!

I think that get's everything updated.

Spring Has Sprung

My Weather Artist drawing was published in the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal today 4.16.08. That's me, daddy, mommy and Reagan - and a butterfly, the sun and some grass.

Sheet rock is up!

The crew hung 95% of the house in just one day and are expected to have it all finished and ready for paint by Friday (4/18). Only got 3 pics cause the battery died in moms camera. For the most part, rooms did get bigger when the sheet rock went up. I really like my two closets and Reagan is sure to love her walk-in.

Speaking of Reagan - she's still hanging out (literally) with mom. I can tickle mom's belly and she (Reagan, not mom) rolls over. It really creeps dad out - he says it looks like something from Alien.

Little John says plumbing and electrical put us behind a couple of weeks so we are now looking at June 1st as completion date versus May 15th. That would be just in time for my birthday party!

As for Reagan, Mom believes that she will be early versus late. We may have to make a crib out of a moving box or stick her in the chest-of-drawers!

Ante up!

(Post from Dad)
Well- I anted up today and delivered seven crisp copies of my resume to the Administrator's office. Hopefully, this won't be the usual long drawn out government process - I think when I first decided to move from OSA to Lee County that process took 6 months. Applications are being taken through the 18th. Then it will be time to move all-in or fold. Hope I get good cards!

Lootfest!

The teachers at my and mom's school gave Reagan a shower this past Wednesday. I've got to make this short cause we've got 40 or so thank you cards to write. We had cake, punch and finger foods. I even go some really cool stuff! Some Polly Pockets, a pillow case that says "A princess sleeps here", a t-shirt that says "I'm the Princess and Big Sister". Reagan got lots of stuff. My favorites are a quilt that grandmaw made and a bib that says "I love my Big Sister."

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and since I've got several hundred words to write - here are the pictures.

Wiring Monkey

Well, apparently I forgot to post these pictures. Dad just found them on the camera tonight. Remember a week or so ago when dad spent 2 days wiring the house for network, cable and speakers? Anyway - there were just some places dad couldn't get, but I was a perfect fit!

Going for the Perfect Storm

(Dad has taken the computer over and asked to post something tonight)

[NOTE - I WAITED UNTIL 4.2.08 SO YOU'D NOT THINK IT WAS APRIL FOOL'S JOKE]

Ok, we are nearing the end of the "Make Baby, Build House, Construction Loan Interest (UGH!), Blood Pressure, Worst Stomach Virus EVER, Diesel up 171%, Sell House - all in 40 weeks" stress test and I'm thinking..... What can I do to take it to the "next level"?

Only thing I can think of is to entertain the thought of changing jobs! Well, more like positions.

Our Administrator is leaving after 19 year's of service and I'm throwing my hat into the ring. I may get it tossed back, but you've got to enter to win. This would be a definite step up the career ladder for me. Best part is that of all the drama items in the 40 week stress test - this is the only one that comes with a safety net of sorts - I don't have to resign my current position to compete for this job. And hey, after sitting for 6 years, the resume needed some polishing.

Not sure how long the selection process will take, but I'll keep you posted. The Administrator's last day is the end of May, so hopefully the process will wrap up pretty quickly to provide for a transition period.
